D1 – Arrival in Chengdu

Arrival at Chengdu TFU / CTU Airport and transfer to the hotel.

Overnight: Chengdu

D2 – Chengdu → Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve

Drive to Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve.

Highlight Birds: Golden Pheasant, Sooty Bushtit, Slaty Bunting, Tawny Fish Owl, Brown Dipper, Crested Kingfisher, Little Forktail.

Mammals: Takin, Golden Snub-nosed Monkey, Leopard Cat, Tufted Deer, Reeve’s Muntjac, Chinese Goral, Père David’s Rock Squirrel, Yellow-throated Marten, Malayan Porcupine, Wild Boar, Tibetan Macaque, Rhesus Macaque, Chinese Serow, Eurasian Otter, and Asian Black Bear.

Overnight: Tangjiahe

D3–4 – Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve

Two full days dedicated to mammal watching in Tangjiahe.

Mammals: Takin, Golden Snub-nosed Monkey, Leopard Cat, Tufted Deer, Reeve’s Muntjac, Chinese Goral, Père David’s Rock Squirrel, Yellow-throated Marten, Malayan Porcupine, Wild Boar, Tibetan Macaque, Rhesus Macaque, Chinese Serow, Eurasian Otter, and Asian Black Bear.

Overnight: Tangjiahe

D5 – Tangjiahe → Chuanzhusi

Last morning in Tangjiahe, then drive to Chuanzhusi.

Overnight: Chuanzhusi

D6 – Chuanzhusi → Ruoergai

Morning birding around Chuanzhusi before driving to Ruoergai.

Highlight Birds: Tibetan Snowcock, Blue-eared Pheasant, Grandala, Red-fronted Rosefinch, Streaked Rosefinch, White-browed Tit-Warbler, Crested Tit-Warbler, and White-browed Tit.

Overnight: Ruoergai

D7–8 – Ruoergai

Two full days split between the montane forests of Baxi and the high grasslands and wetlands around Flower Lake.

Baxi Forest Highlight birds: Blue-eared Pheasant, Chinese Grouse, Blood Pheasant, Chestnut-throated Monal-Partridge, Snowy-cheeked Laughingthrush, Plain (Père David’s) Laughingthrush, Giant Laughingthrush, Sichuan Jay, Spectacled Parrotbill, Crested Tit-Warbler, Chinese Fulvetta, Three-banded Rosefinch, Long-tailed Rosefinch, Przevalski’s Nuthatch, Chinese Nuthatch, and Sichuan Tit.

Flower Lake / Plateau Highlight birds: Black-necked Crane, Ground Tit, Tibetan Lark, Horned Lark, White-rumped Snowfinch, Rufous-necked Snowfinch, Little Owl, and Saker Falcon.

Mammals: Chinese Mountain Cat, Wolf, Pallas’s Cat, Tibetan Fox, Red Fox, Tibetan Gazelle, Plateau Pika, Gansu Pika, and Himalayan Marmot.

Overnight: Ruoergai

D9 – Ruoergai → Wenchuan

Drive to Wenchuan.

Highlight Bird: Golden Pheasant.

Overnight: Wenchuan

D10 – Wenchuan → Labahe

Morning birding in Wenchuan before driving to Labahe.

Mammals: Red Panda, Giant Panda, Sambar, Takin, and Western Red Deer.

Overnight: Labahe

D11 – Labahe → Kangding

Last morning in Labahe, then drive to Kangding (Lianghekou Village).

Overnight: Kangding

D12 – Kangding → Wawushan

Early morning visit to photograph Chinese Monal at the best local site, followed by a transfer to Wawushan.

Highlight Birds: Chinese Monal, White-eared Pheasant, Snow Partridge, Blood Pheasant, and Grandala.

Overnight: Wawushan

D13 – Wawushan

Full exploration of Wawushan’s bamboo forests and boardwalks.

Highlight Birds: Grey-hooded, Brown, Great, Three-toed, Fulvous, Golden, and Ashy-throated Parrotbills; Crimson-breasted Woodpecker, Darjeeling Woodpecker, Three-toed Woodpecker, Spotted Laughingthrush, Red-winged Laughingthrush, and Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon.

Mammal Highlight: Red Panda.

Overnight: Wawushan

D14 – Wawushan → Pingshan

Finish any remaining targets in Wawushan before transferring to Pingshan.

Overnight: Pingshan

D15 – Pingshan (Tanshi Village)

A full day at hides and nearby forest habitats for pheasants and regional endemics.

Highlight Birds: Sichuan Partridge, Lady Amherst’s Pheasant, Temminck’s Tragopan, Silver Pheasant, Chinese Bamboo Partridge, Emei Shan Liocichla, Buffy Laughingthrush, Grey-headed Parrotbill, Chinese Hwamei, and Slaty-backed Forktail.

Overnight: Pingshan

D16 – Pingshan → Chengdu

Morning birding for any remaining targets before driving back to Chengdu. Final evening in Chengdu.

Overnight: Chengdu

D17 – Departure Day

Transfer to Chengdu TFU / CTU Airport for departure.
